Live phytoplankton is a beneficial microalgae present in oceans. This single-cell organism represents a nutritious food source for various marine creatures.
BENEFITS: Phytoplankton will serve as a natural food source for your corals, clams, copepods, oysters and other filter-feeding invertebrates, promoting their growth and vibrancy of colors. It also provides essential nutrients to sustain a balanced rotifer culture. This is a live product that consumes nitrogen and phosphates and will easily reproduce in your aquarium, differently from dead products, that do not reproduce but will actually decompose into nitrate and phosphate. Additionally, live phytoplankton feeds on algae, leading to cleaner water and an overall healthier tank.
PRODUCTION: Our phytoplankton is cultured using the Guillard f/2 medium formula, an industry standard fertilizer, to promote growth.
INSTRUCTIONS: Introduce the desired amount of product to the main tank or to the sump. The best time to do this is in the evening, after turning the lights off. The ideal dose of Phytoplankton depends on the size of each tank and on the specific type and amount of livestock. An average recommended dose is 5 ml per every 10 gallons of water once a week. Keep the unused portion refrigerated and invert the bottle once daily.
