PHYTOGROW, F/2 Fertilizer 8 oz / 237 ml

My Little Ocean PhytoGrow is specifically formulated to nourish your Phytoplankton cultures, enabling them to flourish and become a highly nutritious food source for your marine life. Our F/2 Fertilizer is developed based on Guillard’s formula, an industry standard in marine aquaculture. It comes with a 5 ml dosing syringe for convenient measuring.

STORAGE: PhytoGrow can last up to 3 months. Keep refrigerated, away from light sources. Shake before each use.

INSTRUCTIONS

Supplies:

– My Little Ocean PhytoGrow and dosing syringe

– Salt water with specific gravity of 1.020

– Phytoplankton starter culture

– Air pump and tubing

– Sterile clear plastic container

– Grow light

Instructions:

1. Clean and sterilize all equipment before use to avoid contamination.

2. Pour 1.75 liters of water and 250 ml of Phytoplankton seed in the plastic  container. Add 1 ml PhytoGrow for every 2 liters of mixture. Mix well.

3. Connect an air pump and tubing to provide oxygen (1-2 bubbles per second). Place container under grow light for 8-10 hours a day, making sure light is coming from all sides.

4. Monitor the culture daily and add salt water and fertilizer as needed. We suggest taking daily pictures of the phytoplankton to observe the change in coloration (progressively darker green coloration).  If there is noticeable change after 48 hours, leave the culture as is and keep monitoring. If there isn’t noticeable progress after 48 hours, add another 250 ml of Phytoplankton seed and 1 ml of fertilizer. 

5. When the culture has reached its desired density, harvest the phytoplankton, store refrigerated or use for feeding. The Phytoplankton should be ready for harvesting in approximately 10-13 days. The final outcome depends duration and type of lighting, proper sterilization and quality of seed. Measure the salinity, it should reach the standard 1.023 recommended for saltwater aquariums by the time it is ready for harvest due to evaporation.

NOTE: A healthy Nannochloropsis culture is green. Different colorations as such as brown or yellow are indications of contamination. Such cultures should be discarded immediately. 

WARNINGS:

• Not for human consumption. If ingested, seek medical attention immediately.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Use as directed: follow the recommended dosage and application instructions. Over-dosage of PhytoGrow can result in over-fertilization, which may lead to harmful effects on the aquatic environment.
• Avoid contact with eyes and skin. PhytoGrow may cause skin or eye irritation. Wear protective gloves, protective face mask, goggles, and clothing when handling or applying the product. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
• Do not use in combination with other fertilizers or chemicals. Mixing PhytoGrow with other fertilizers or chemicals may result in unintended chemical reactions or undesirable effects.
• Store properly: keep it refrigerated, in a dark place, separately from food. Do not store near open flames, sparks, or heat sources and use it in a well ventilated room.
• Dispose of properly: follow local regulations for the proper disposal of PhytoGrow and its packaging. Do not pour unused product or rinse water into drains, water bodies or storm water systems, as it may cause environmental pollution.
